WINTER
WEATHER LINKS
The winter weather links listed below are
designed to help you get to the course, even in the winter months. Many of them
provide links to maps and pictures that will enable you to determine the weather
conditions at courses listed above. These links
are provided as a service by those of us here at ALL
GOLF QC.com,
because our "passion" for the game doesn't
wane just because it's a little "chili" out. When used in combination these links will provide a true picture of the playing
conditions at the above courses. With
imagination and determination, you should be able to find a golf course with
suitable playing conditions, within 30 minutes to 4 hours drive of the Quad Cities
if you use our
winter weather links.
below to see a large
version of each map listed below. Of course, as always, ALL GOLF
QC.com
does not guarantee the reliability of these maps or links from which they come.
However, they are excellent maps for determining snow cover, or snow depth
and/or other playing
conditions.
BEGIN HERE
This is a snow cover map of North America. Click on the link below to go to the NOAA
Automated Snow Mapping System for the most current map. It is derived
from satellite images, and it is updated every day. It is a "real
time" image of where the snow is in North America Currently. Or try the NOAA
Satellite Services Division.
These two snow maps come from the
Surface
page of Real Time Weather Data.
Both images will give you an excellent view of the current snow
cover in the United States. The one on the left is from NESDIS. The one below is from the U S Air Force.

This is the visible GOES Satellite Image of North America. Click on it to be able to
"see" where the snow is. A "visible" satellite image is just
what it says, it's a picture of the Earth from space using visible light. Once
you're at the GOES website, you can click on the Current Satellite Image and
"zoom" in on any area of the U.S. that you would like to see. Click on
the link to the right to go to the Global
Hydrology and Climate Center for other satellite and infrared images as well.
This
is the an image from the
Hydrological Information Center Snow Conditions Website. This is a good
website to see maps of how much snow is on the ground in different regions
of the country, including the Midwest. Just Click on the Satellite Snow Cover
Maps Link, and go to the NOHRSC
Satellite Products page.
This is the 6 to 10 day Temperature/Precipitation Forecast maps from the National
Climate Prediction Center in Maryland. Use it and the precipitation map
there to see what the weather will be doing up to a week and a half in advance.
Of course, predicting the weather that far in advance is always difficult, but
we hope that it will help you to make your next tee time anyway.
