Glynn's
Creek Golf League
SLOW PLAY GUIDELINES
Slow play could rear its ugly head at any time, so we must continue to
be vigilant. REMEMBER--No group thinks they are the one causing the slow play.
To keep slow play away try following these
guidelines:
1. Concede putts "in the
leather." By clearing the green as promptly as
possible, it will give players waiting in the fairway the capacity to play their
shots much more quickly. Remember-Half of your strokes are played on the green.
2. Play READY golf. Be
ready to hit the ball or putt when it's your turn to play. It is essential that
you think about your shot BEFORE it is your turn to play. Visualize the shot and
"pull the trigger" for better shot making.
3. Spend no more than 3 minutes
looking for a Lost Ball. The rule says "up to 5
minutes," but unless you saw exactly where the ball went in, be ready to
drop another ball within 2 club links of that spot. Even when you see where the
ball went in, at Glynn's Creek the ball just seems to vanish in the rough.
4. Keep pace with the group in
FRONT of you. This means your group should be READY TO
PLAY once the group AHEAD of you finishes playing their shots. Your group should
NEVER be more than a 1/2 a hole behind the group in front of you.
5. Let FASTER groups play
through. If the group BEHIND you seems to be waiting for
your group quite often, or if you seem to be looking for a lot of balls, find an
opportune place for the them to "play through." It will help to speed
up play for everyone.
Thank-you for your
consideration in this matter. The above suggestions are meant in the spirit of
good sportsmanship and to make league play more enjoyable for everyone. Your
support is greatly appreciated!
